Introducing our School Council

School Council 2024-2025

The school council is made up of 2 children from each year group from year 2 upwards, with the exception of Year 3 and 5 having 3 classes, therefore 3 members. These children act as representatives for their Year group and help to make pupils’ voices heard.

The group meets twice per half term to discuss issues that concern pupils in their everyday lives at school. They also talk about various fund raising activities that they can take part in and way that they can help the local community. They discuss improvements that can be made to the school environment and how best to use funds raised. They often do litter picking around the school site—helping to keep our school site clean for all to enjoy.

These meetings help the children to become confident about putting new ideas forward, making decisions and speaking within a meeting. The school council get chosen to escort guests around the school and also represent the school in various visits and events.

Litter Picking

The school council made a great effort to be environmentally friendly and went around the school grounds picking litter. The children took it in turns using the litter pickers and holding the bin bags. The children were surprised by the amount of litter, therefore we will be creating some posters, over the coming weeks, to display around school to promote the use of our on site bins.
