On Thursday 13th June we had special visitors, The Right Reverend Bishop Michael Ipgrave, Chair of Governors Mark Bircher and Foundation Governors , Mrs C Okoye and Mrs J Dooley . Bishop Michael came to school to officially open our outdoor Reflection Garden. Worship group and our choir led Worship. During this , we shared the journey of the reflection garden ,from inception to completion. This was shared alongside relevant readings from the Bible taken from the book of Genesis, and of course worship through song.
We then moved to the Reflection Garden, where 3KM were enjoying reading and chatting. Worship group took the Bishop on a tour of the garden. Pointing out relevant areas such as the Memorial area and then explained their purpose.
Bishop Michael also spent time talking to artist Adrian Ratcliffe-Davies and garden volunteer Helen Evans. Both have been involved in the planning, design and landscaping of the Reflection Garden. This has included adding a Zen garden with solar water feature. With a wall of recycled plastic bottles flowers , made by pupils during an art club led by Adrian.
Following this Bishop Michael planted a rowan tree and blessed the garden as officially open.
Moving indoors we shared refreshments and Worship group asked Bishop Michael some probing questions about his life and call to ministry.
The event was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
